I AM -We are.

Continuing with our theme of I AM who I AM (Exodus 3:14), which so aptly describes all that God is and ever will be for that matter, I am going to look at another aspect of this statement.

As this description confirms God is above everything, He is outside of time, is eternal, never changes, only He is good and righteous, also being the alpha and omega (beginning and end).  Along with these descriptions God also defines love.

Quite simply, He is above and outside of whatever we can comprehend, however we react and whatever we can think about, His ways are higher than our ways (Isaiah 55:8-9), His foolishness is greater than our wisdom (1 Cor 1:25).

His status is summed up by Psalm113:5, Who can compare to the Lord our God who sits on a high throne and Samuel 7:22 which says, Therefore You are great, O Lord God.  For there is none like you, nor is there any God besides you.  See also Isaiah 40:25 for further details.

In addition, we have Jesus, our saviour, who testified that only God is good (Mark 10:18).  He (Jesus) is the word of God who was God (John 1:1), who was also sinless, and who has extended the incredible privilege of being in us, as we are in Him (John 14:20).

So, God is above all, then there is Jesus who sent the Holy Spirit to complete the Trinity and finally, you and me despite our great shortcomings.  Where we have both the adamic fallen nature and then through grace, we have been rescued from condemnation because we have the Holy Spirit nature in us as well.

In Psalm 82:6 we read; I said you are Gods: you are all sons of the Most High, Jesus repeated this passage in John 10:34 which refer to those who have received God’s message.  Let me emphatically say that we are not God or a God such as those that were present in various races of people at the time of the Old and New Testament being respectively written.

But as followers/disciples of Jesus we have the ability that non-believers don’t have, of walking in the authority of God’s Word.  For example, in Matthew 4 Jesus’s reply in response to the devil’s temptations was very simple and to the point, it is written.  To which there is no reply and consequently the devil couldn’t answer because of the supreme authority of God’s word.

We of course have the same method of response to Satan. As further evidence of our Godly authority we are also told in Deuteronomy 8:3 that we do not live on bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.

My final point is taken from Genesis 1:27 that we are made in the image and likeness of the Lord.

The aforementioned points bring me to my message, that as followers who are family members of the God most high through grace as provided by Jesus, we are built in the likeness and image of God brings the consequential characteristics of I AM who I AM.

Jesus said in John 14:12 that whoever believes in Him will do the works He has been doing, and even greater things because He was going to the Father.  Also, in Philippians 4:13 Paul confirms that he can and therefore we can, do all things through Him who strengthens me

We are representative of Him, certainly not when we use our own gifts, talents, knowledge or wisdom, but when we act as sincere servants of the most high, as we speak the Lord’s word or act in obedience.  We consequently become unlimited in our Father

No more, no less.

I am who I am – in Him

With all blessings

Tony
