A staging post is a place to stop off on a journey, as with Hong Kong being a stopping point when travelling from Australia to London.
In olden times it would have been various inns and today coaches use towns for the same purpose. At each staging point some leave, some join and some continue the journey.
Christians also have a staging post, namely the cross.
Simplistically there are 3 stages;
- Our journey towards the cross to leave behind our lives without Christ.
- Reaching the Cross, laying our burden down and joining God’s family.
- Then continuing on from the cross, symbolically entering the promised land by trusting in Jesus.
The old has gone, the new has come!
Jesus’ mortal end on the cross became our new beginning!
As we journey on from the cross something remarkable happens!!
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ (Ephesians 3 v 1).
When God chose you and I, He held nothing back! Jesus did His part, now we can do ours. We are totally equipped with all that we need to live our new spiritual life despite the secular challenges, both big and small. The cross is where God became our approachable Father, Christ our servant as the Word of God and the Holy Spirit our guide, with other Christians being our fellowship.
We are not alone, abandoned, forgotten or put to one side, but fully loved.
